BOOK LESSON PLANS
BY DR. BARBARA SORRELS

BUILDING ON BOOKS

Children’s literature is a rich and valuable resource for teaching essential life skills that help children be a successful learner in the classroom. Having a positive view of self, knowing how to identify and control big emotions and handling disappointment are just a few of the life skills that children need to learn. The goal of “Building on Books” is to provide a menu of books and simple lesson plans for teachers to use in community circle or at other moments of intentional teaching of skills.
